The nomination criteria for each award category are described hereafter
European Rare Disease Leadership Award
This award is presented to an individual having demonstrated remarkable leadership at the European level in the domain of rare diseases.
Policy Maker Award
This award is presented to a policy maker whose dedication and commitment to rare diseases has made a difference to the rare disease community.
EURORDIS Volunteer Award
This award is presented to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to EURORDIS and the rare disease community on a volunteer basis.
This award is presented to a distinguished researcher whose career represents a unique blend of scientific excellence and support of the patient community.
Patient Organisation Award
This award is presented to a EURORDIS member patient organisation demonstrating innovative methods in patient support or advocacy.
Awards are presented to pioneering companies developing treatments for rare diseases. The winners are selected using the following criteria:
The treatments that the company is developing
The number of treatments that have been approved
The company policy and track record on access to drugs
The company policy and track record with patient organisations
The company partnership with EURORDIS
This award is presented to the author, publisher, producer or creative team of a print, TV, radio, or internet-based programme, article, series, book or film that has contributed to better the understanding of rare diseases or issues surrounding rare diseases in one or more countries within Europe.
Lifetime Achievement Award
This award is presented to an individual in recognition of his/her strong, lifelong dedication and commitment to addressing the needs of people living with a rare disease and for his/her contribution to the promotion of the rare disease cause.
