EUROPLAN – EURORDIS Tool Kit for National Conferences

This tool kit contains information and documents intended for organisers of EUROPLAN National Conferences aimed at promoting the adoption of policy measures for people living with rare diseases. These documents provide guidance to adopt common conference format and content.

Following the same format and content is of utmost importance when comparing how the same issues for rare diseases are addressed in different countries. These documents provide the structured support needed to successfully organise and manage a EUROPLAN National Conference.

This document explains the concept of the EUROPLAN National Conference and provides the common format and methodology to be followed by conference organisers.  It includes information on the Steering Committee of the conference, the themes of the workshops to be organised, targeted participants as well as practical information on communication and funding.
 

b. Content Guidelines for EUROPLAN National Conferences 2012-2015  

Each EUROPLAN National Conference 2012-2015 is dividedin plenary session and six workshops corresponding to the themes stemming from the EU policy documents in the field of rare diseases.

Six Content Guidelines have been developed, one for each theme / workshop. They provide the conference organisers / Steering Committee with necessary background information and questions to prompt the discussion during the workshops. Each Content Guideline includes:

  •  relevant EU documents and other materials providing the necessary background on the theme;
  • a list of questions developed by EURORDIS and its Advisors to be addressed during the workshop in order to guide the discussion and agree on some proposals.
     

You will find hereafter the six Content Guidelines together with their corresponding Power Point template presentations. These presentations introduce the Recommendations of the Council for each theme, followed by the indicators identified by the partners of the EUROPLAN project (to measure national plans’ development progress) and the list of questions developed in the corresponding Content Guideline.

In addition, 3 horizontal themes are spread out through the 6 different Workshops: Gathering expertise at the European level; Sustainability of a National Plan and Patient Empowerment.

Workshops’ Chairs are invited to recognise their pivotal role in the success of the conference and that they follow a common and coordinated approach.

This common template Report must be used by each conference organiser to ensure consistency across all participating countries.
It is structured along the themes and the sub-themes of the conferences’ workshops.

The Synthesis Report of the 15 EUROPLAN conferences held in 2010/2011 provides the overall outcomes of the first round of discussions by themes. This is a useful source of background information and complements the Content Guidelines.
