Ocho de cada mil niños nacidos vivos en España tienen una cardiopatía congénita. Esta patología es el defecto congénito de mayor incidencia en nuestro país.
La Fundación Menudos Corazones celebra este día con diferentes actos informativos, de formación y sensibilización social.

International Childhood Cancer Day
The 15th of February is the International Childhood Cancer Day (ICCD). All the organizations of the ICCCPO (International Confederation of Childhood Cancer Parents) celebrate it all over the world.
In Spain, The Spanish Federation of Childhood Cancer Parents (member of EURORDIS) has organized different activities during the weekend, including a roundtable discussion about “Teenagers Units: need, creation and starting up”. The theme chosen for this year is “We want our place, help us to get it”.

El Día Internacional del Niño con cáncer
El 15 de febrero es el Día Internacional del Niño con cáncer y lo celebramos en todo el mundo todas las organizaciones de padres de niños con cáncer que formamos la ICCCPO, (Confederación Internacional de Padres de Niños con Cáncer)
En España la Federación Española de Padres de Niños con Cáncer (miembro de EURORDIS) ha organizado varios actos durante el fin de semana, entre los que se incluye una mesa redonda cuyo título es “Unidades de adolescentes, necesidad, creación y puesta en marcha”. El lema elegido para este año es: “Queremos nuestro sitio, ayúdanos a conseguirlo”

World Community Grid
A message from Lex van der Heijden, CMTC
Humankind continues to suffer from many serious diseases, as you can read daily in the media. From various fields of scientific research, mathematical models are now being developed in an attempt to discover what the underlying causes of the diseases might be. Examples of diseases which are being investigated in this way are AIDS, cancer and muscular dystrophy. The mathematical models being developed are very large scale and require vast amounts of computing power. An innovative solution has been found to solve this critical need for computing power. Why not harness the combined resources of many small computers when they are idle, as is often the case? This novel approach, referred to as Grid Computing, has already been implemented in the World Community Grid. At this moment more then 1.300.000 computers around the world are being deployed in this effort, but even more resources can still usefully be applied.
I would like to ask you to participate in this world wide initiative to help the scientists in their work for the eventual benefit of all humanity. In the World Community Grid I have defined a team and I would urge you strongly to assist this worthwhile cause by joining the team.
