Maria Mavris

Maria Mavris joined EURORDIS in 2008 as Drug Development Programme Manager.

Maria is part of the Research and Therapeutics team where her responsibilities include liaising between the European Medicines Agency and patients' representatives involved in scientific committees and protocol assistance for orphan medicines and is responsible for the EURORDIS volunteers/advocates involved in drug development.

She also organises the EURORDIS Summer School for patients' advocates in i) clinical trials and drug development and ii) health technology assessment along with Fabrizia Bignami.

After obtaining a PhD in Molecular Microbiology from The University of Adelaide, Australia, she continued her postdoctoral studies at the Institut Pasteur, Paris. After this time, she worked as a medical writer in a Contract Research Organisation specialising in oncology.

Maria speaks English, French and Greek.
