Fernando de Andres-Trelles

Fernando de Andres-Trelles obtained his medical degree and PhD from the University of Valladolid in Spain. He is a specialist in Clinical Pharmacology.

Currently, Fernando is full professor of Pharmacology at Madrid’s Universidad Complutense Schools of Dentistry and of Medicine, a position he has held since 1988.

In 1993, he became a member of the Spanish Medicines Evaluation Board at the Spanish Medicines Agency where he was Chairman from 1993 to 1999.

Starting in 1979, he was an Associate Professor at the University of Oviedo in Spain later becoming a Full Professor of Pharmacology in 1983. In the School of Medicine he was Head of the Pharmacology Department until 1988.

Fernando is actively involved in many committees and working parties at the European Medicines Agency (EMA) including:

  • Paediatric Committee (PDCO), since 2007,
  • Scientific Advice Working Group (SAWG), since 1999,
  • Human Scientific Committees working party with Patients' and Consumers' Organisations (PCWP), since 2006.

 

rom 1993-2004, Fernando was a member of the Committee for Proprietary Medicinal Products (CHMP). He also served as the alternate member of the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) from 2004-2006 and Committee for Orphan Medicinal Products (COMP) from 2005-2006.
