EURORDIS submission to the European Commission’s call for evidence on the EU Disability Card
The European Disability Card will aim to support free movement for persons with disabilities, facilitating their access to some services across the EU.
EURORDIS-Rare Diseases Europe has submitted a response to the European Commission’s Call for Evidence on the EU Disability Card.
In our evidence submission, we call for the Card to cover a wide range of services and to be based on binding legislation. We also call on the Commission to support Member States to improve national disability assessment frameworks, so that everyone who has a disability can see it recognised in their country and benefit from the Card.
Our evidence shows that people living with a rare disease face important challenges to obtain disability status.
